American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) babies, Everglades National Park, FLA, 2000. While riding my bike on the Shark Valley Trail though the Everglades one grey, drizzly day (i.e., NO TOURISTS!), I heard the unmistakable sound of baby alligators. After making sure there was no mother around, I set down my bike and peeked into the grass and found these adorable little creatures. So lucky.
