Eastern red bat (Lasiurus borealis), Chain Lakes Provincial Park, Alberta, 2008. When I started my PhD, my supervisor told me that this species was exceedingly rare in Southern Alberta and bet me a bottle of champagne I wouldn’t capture any. I got my bottle of champagne during my first field season. Ultimately, I captured four of these.
